raffles are a great way to raise funds and local business are often keen to help out by donating prizes. You can also hold a race, or compete at a retro games night.

organise a friendly sports day, hold a summer party, or soak your teachers in the stocks. If you feel competitive you could organise a Scrabble tournament, swimming competition or a skittles night.

There are lots of things you can do to get sponsored for. Sponsored runs and silences are popular ideas for children and young people. Or, you could do a sponsored walk in fancy dress like people from St Catherine's Day Service do each year.

sell items at a table top sale, tuck shop or a toy sale. You could organise a treasure hunt, hold a teddy bears picnic, arrange a tea dance or even put on a talent show.

Tombolas are another way to raise funds - everyone enjoys the chance to win a prize. Prizes can be donated by friends, family, colleagues, neighbours and even local businesses.

Each year Jimmy Spencer, helped by a team of volunteers, organises a tombola for the Annual Fundraising Ball. Local businesses and individuals donate prizes, and ticket sales boost the proceeds of the event.

The Ball itself is organised by a committee of volunteers. It usually takes place in January or February and brings people together for a night of dinner and dancing in aid of a project chosen by the Committee.

bring your neighbours together with a village fete, organise a Victorian evening, or tread the boards with a variety show. Children and adults alike can put their skills to the test with a volcano making competition.

Some of our supporters have challenged themselves to the Vélo Birmingham & Midlands - a 100 mile cycle race around Birmingham and surrounding areas.
